The program is comprised of EMTs and Paramedics that provide rapid access emergency medical service and enhance public awareness concerning bicycle and helmet safety. When activated, the team responds in environments that are not conducive for motorized vehicles. These include sporting events, street fairs, and other densely populated special events such as the Peach drop, Lighting of the Christmas tree, Peachtree Road Race, Publix Marathon, festivals in the area parks such as the Atlanta Pride Festival, MLK MARCH and demonstrations at the state Capitol.
Equipped to run day or night, the team capabilities include basic and advanced level care until transport unit arrives. Each member carries an AED, first-line drugs, supplies and oxygen to manage respiratory, cardiac, environmental emergencies, other medical and trauma.
Current team consists of 12-14 members. Each member has completed training based on International Police/EMS Mountain Bike Association and Georgia traffic laws as relates to Bicycles.
Grady’s bike team is sponsored by the Atlanta Track Club.
